-My original post below:
I was making a quick stop in the store to grab a drink so I left my helmet on. I came out of the store and noticed a cop backed into a space directly across from mine. He was staring at me the as I loaded my tailbag, so I decided to start filming with my helmet cam assuming he was planning on messing with me for who knows what. Sure enough, as soon as I pull away he pulls me over. He tells me that my tag is displayed improperly and that he saw me come out of the store with a helmet on and a gun on my hip so I looked suspicious. He asks me for my license and as I take my gloves off he quickly seizes my weapon.
After he ran my ID he removed the magazine from my gun, handed it back to me and told me not to load it until he left the scene. He allowed me on my way after advising me to illuminate my plate and move it a few inches back. I didn't receive a ticket, but I'm still verifying with other surrounding departments that my plate mount is actually illegal. I read the law and I believe my plate (and mount) is 100% legal. Was my weapon safely, legally, and properly removed by the officer? What's your thoughts?
